China Global Television Network launched a dedicated webpage on October 17, marking the World Day for Overcoming Extreme Poverty, to showcase its Global South Directors Co-Production Program 2026. The new digital hub presents international documentaries illustrating how diverse communities create practical solutions to improve daily living standards.
Operated under China Media Group through the Global South Media Partners mechanism and aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the project centers on the theme “Beyond Poverty: Paths to Shared Development in the Global South.” Creative teams and media organizations from roughly 20 nations across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe have joined to document grassroots initiatives, ecological shifts, employment, and community resilience.
The featured productions connect broader structural topics directly to personal experiences. A film from Jordan documents a woman returning to her hometown to establish a sustainable farming cooperative with local women, while an Argentine production highlights how university researchers in Mendoza apply water conservation techniques to aid regional livestock farmers. In Burundi, cameras follow agricultural processing and farming livelihoods, while a Russian documentary series explores grain farming regions, technology, and food supply chains.
Further entries include an Ethiopian documentary tracking improvements in housing, sanitation, and electricity for a farming family in the Hadiya zone, alongside a Pakistani production examining energy expansion along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. China’s contribution, titled On the Rural Healthcare Front Line, records the daily routine of a village doctor conducting home visits and medical consultations. The portal will receive regular updates, allowing viewers worldwide to stream the films while participating broadcasters share distribution rights across multiple languages.
